The Constant
God has his clock. He keeps His own counsel. God has His ways. He knows His priorities, His desires, and His plans. His default is for right, and justice, and good. In Jesus Christ, He is bound to lovingkindness and mercy in perpetuity.
How God manages this is largely mysterious—“information unavailable to mortal man,” Paul Simon sang.
Our consolation is that God is just, good, and will not depart from these qualities. He will make all things right one day.
Our comfort is that God is present. He is absent a shadow. He is without duplicity.
Our constant is that He is the same. He never varies—no matter the world’s upheaval.
His deep desire is that we turn to Him, rely upon Him, and trust Him. He will not, He cannot, in any scenario, let us down.
Our consideration is this:
“He [God] Himself has said, I will not in any way fail you nor give you up nor leave you without support. [I will] not, [I will] not, [I will] not in any degree leave you helpless nor forsake nor let [you] down (relax My hold on you)! [Assuredly not!]” (Hebrews 13:5b, the Amplified Bible).
