Loves Wild Pursuit

I had a friend in college named Clint who was wildly in love with a girl named Rita. He made a fool of himself chasing after her. He tried everything he could to win her heart. But despite it all, she would barely give him the time of day.

What would you say to a guy like Clint. I'll tell you what I said. "Quit wasting your time! She doesn't care about you and she's not worth the heartache. Don't you have any self-respect?"

But doesn't Clint's story sound a lot like God's pursuit of us? He has given everything he can in a wild pursuit of us...treating us like the love of his life; which is odd, because it's not like we give Him much reason to love us. Yet, he has initiated a romance with us that is beyond our comprehension. God's pursuit of us may be hard to comprehend, but knowing that he does gives us cause to respond to his invitation.
