Is 'Sorry' Good Enough?
When you sin, are there times when you are emotionally haunted, wondering if you should say more than a simple "I'm sorry"?
Do you bring to mind all the passages in the Old Testament that describe God as angry and wanting retribution? Don't get me wrong. The entire Bible is the inspired, infallible Word of God, but we must not blur the division between the Old and New Testaments. The transition between the two covenants cost Jesus Christ his life. God says he inaugurated a new plan through the work of Jesus' death on the cross.
Does God discipline his children? Yes. Are there consequences to for sin? Yes. Does God seize the intensity of unpleasant circumstances to deliver important messages to us? Yes. But if you sort through all the details associated with each of these scenarios, at the core you will encounter a loving Father who is looking for every opportunity to communicate his love and demonstrate his heart for you.
Father says, "Yes, sorry is good enough for me. Yes, you blew it, but you have not fallen out of my favor. That is not possible."
