How Secure is Your Salvation?(Part 4)
Yeeeooowww! I feel terrible about what I did. Is there anyway God can forgive me?
Blasphemy occurs when you deny the saving intervention of Christ in your life for all eternity, not when you make a poor—even a very poor—choice and sin.
As a Christ-follower, you have not denied Jesus for all eternity by rejecting His redemption of you. On the contrary!
Since you have chosen to accept Christ Jesus as your Lord and Savior, you can only feel separated, feel alienated, feel as though you are outside His good graces, feel as though He has nothing to do with you, etc. (Note all the "feelings" in the last sentence. No need denying them, as that is futile, but no need embracing them as paragons of truth either.)
When you sin and your emotions conclude you are irreparably separated from God, you must decide whether you will opt for your feelings as barometers of truth or look to the counsel of God's Word as your barometer of truth. You make this decision with an intentional choice, not by determining or waiting to feel different. Further, once you have opted for God's perspective as truth, you cannot determine whether or not your decision was meaningful or not based upon how you feel.
Taking this one more step, you cannot base the validity or resolve of your decision upon whether or not your enemy, the devil, continues to tempt you or accuse you with the notion that you have fallen out of favor with God, lost your salvation, and are now the victim of an angry deity.
Here is the bottom line: God is not concerned about whether or not He is strong enough to keep you in His family. He is! Hopefully, you are convinced by this time that you are a Believer and part of His forever family. If you are a follower of Jesus, you are! However, these two facts do not mean the devil will stop trying to tempt you to the contrary regarding either point. He is a desperate individual, using desperate measures, to accomplish his desperate goal of undermining God.
He is out of luck from God's perspective! How about from yours?
