Safe

Wow, these are crazy days. We’re losing our minds.

I’d like to tell you that you are safe in Jesus’ arms. I’d like to write that the world can’t touch you, harm you, or affect you.

But I can’t do that. It’s not right, nor is it true.

Candidly, playing it safe is not in your spiritual DNA. Safe is not what you are called to be, born to do, or destined to live.

You are secure, but you are not safe.

No one can separate you from the love of God, but your destiny is tribulation and injustice. You can’t be untransformed, unsaved, unsecured, unloved, unempowered, or unvictorious.

But you are not safe.

You are not safe from trial, tribulation, or tumult. Neither are you safe within the love of God. Lewis wrote of Aslan, the lion and Christ-figure in his Narnia series, "Who said anything about safe? 'Course he isn't safe. But he's good.”

You are not safe. God is not safe. But in Him you are secure.

There is a monumental difference between seeking a safe life and living a secure life. There is no such thing as Christian safety, but everything about Christianity is secure. Most of all, you.

So, you are secure to live courageously in these crazy days. Rock n roll!

Note: For more about the good-ness of God, may I refer you to the chapter “Good” in my latest book, Swagger.
