Falling (away) from Grace (Part 2)
It is tempting to spend a great deal of time discussing the elementary aspects of the Word because it feels as though we are clarifying and embellishing our walk with Christ when we do so. In addition, I think discussions on these subjects is enticing because they can be somewhat sensational, e.g. judgment, healing, etc. and also lend themselves to pride on the part of those who expound upon these elementary things. However, from a Scriptural perspective, once the dust settles, we have nothing more than a belly full of milk.
We must move on from the elementary things once they are cared for and understood sufficiently. We must move to the solid food which is constituted in knowing God, understanding His heart, and considering why He has gone to such great lengths to make us righteous.
By my definition, grace is the revelation of God's heart, and His heart is for us—Him and me/you—to connect, or bond together, at the heart level. In order for this be possible, He has to transform us into people capable and worthy of communicating with Him as He desires. This desire of God is expressed as grace and as the "word of righteousness."
Granted, this is mind boggling. It is for this reason that the Bible refers to this teaching and initiative by God as solid food. But for the effort of chewing on the meat of the Word you will know God and understand Him and His heart for you and toward you. That's not a bad deal!
